W. Sacramento to Fallbrook

Woke up in West Sacramento and prepared for a very long day of driving. Most of all day yesterday was spent driving through arid landscape that transitioned from simply dry to what looked like scorched earth to our eyes.
There was strong contrast between intermittent green farmland and mountains covered in nothing but dry, brown and burnt grasses.
Interspersed throughout this scene was opinionated signage highlighting the obvious water crisis and all the politics involved. Mile after mile we saw signs like these:
Today we saw our first ever dust devil. Then we saw our second, third, forth, and so on and so on.
More random pics from this part of the drive:
We then crossed over the mountains to the LA area where it seemed just as dry but with more scrubby underbrush than before.
We ended the day and found a motel room in Fallbrook in San Diego county. A small town which claimed to be "the avocado capitol of the world". Looking forward to a short drive into San Diego in the morning where we'll meetup with our friend Ben (aka Sparrow), then stay the next couple of nights at a trail angel's house in the city. 3 days to go!
